Milk Frothers, Espresso Machines, and Reviews

What Is a Milk Frother? What Does It Do? And Why You Need It?

A milk frother is a device that is used to give the foamy milk look that you see on most hot coffee beverages like a latte. It creates the foamy milk froth by rapidly agitating the milk and introducing as much air as possible, thus aerating the milk to give it the desirable frothy effect. The reason why a milk frother is used is to help cut through the sharp, bitter flavor of coffee that is commonly used to make drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos and other various hot coffee drinks.

Types of Milk Frothers: Handheld, Electric, Hand Pump, and Steam

There are four types of frothers available for purchase. You have handheld, electric, hand pump, and steam milk frothers (espresso machines). Depending on your needs, each type of frother can provide you with the foamy milk top that you desire on your coffee. Factors to consider when buying a milk frother are: Costs, clean-up, design, temperature, froth, and will it be able to froth different types of milk.
